City of Bartlesville, BCF team up for grant writing training

Grant training 7-26-16 Nearly 40 participants turned out for a free training session on grant writing for small to intermediate non-profit, faith-based and community organizations, held July 26 at City Hall.

The event was sponsored by the City of Bartlesville and the Bartlesville Community Foundation.

Lyn Larson of the Tulsa Housing and Urban Development Office conducted the training, which has been identified as a community need through the efforts of the ongoing Community Needs Assessment project — a project involving the City of Bartlesville and other local organizations, as well as the Tulsa HUD office.

“The training was aimed at non-profits, board members, churches and others who want to improve their organizations and write better grants,” said City of Bartlesville Grants Administrator Nancy Warring.

Lunch was provided by Bartlesville Community Foundation, and the Bartlesville Public Library provided coffee and helped with technology needs.

“A big ‘thank you’ goes to Karen (Kerr-McGraw) and Roger (Elmore) from the Bartlesville Public Library for their assistance, and to Bartlesville Community Foundation Community Outreach Director Mirelle Onukwube for her help with this event,” Warring said. “We had a great turn-out, and Lyn Larson did an awesome job of instructing. We will definitely be looking at doing more events like this in the future.”
