Applications are being accepted from Bartlesville residents interested in serving on the City of Bartlesville’s newly created Transportation Committee.
An ordinance creating the committee was approved July 2 by the Bartlesville City Council, which will ultimately appoint committee members.
The committee will act in an advisory capacity to the City Council and will be charged with the following tasks:
- Assess community needs as they pertain to providing an efficient and financially sustainable multi modal transportation system for all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders of all ages and abilities
- Identify best design practices to ensure that public streets are built to be safe and convenient for all users, regardless of mode of transportation
- Assess opportunities to improve mobility through the community by developing transit and rideshare collaborations and partnerships with existing public or private agencies or organizations
- Explore emerging transportation operating models and technologies that have the potential to improve the performance, efficiency and safety of the City’s transportation systems
- Evaluate and assess the financial sustainability of potential transportation improvement policies, ordinances, strategies, projects and investment opportunities that may enhance the City’s transportation system
The committee will be composed of five voting members — two City Councilors and three Bartlesville residents. Members will serve two-year terms. Committee meetings will be held in accordance with the state’s open meetings laws.
Citizens interested in being appointed to the committee are encouraged to complete an application, which are available on the City of Bartlesville’s website, www.cityofbartlesville.org, or in the City Manager’s Office, located on the second floor of City Hall, 401 S. Johnstone Ave.
