City Manager Ed Gordon to retire August 1

June 4, 2018

After 27 years of service with the City of Bartlesville, City Manager Ed Gordon announced Monday that he will retire his post, effective Aug. 1, 2018.

Gordon has been employed with the City of Bartlesville since 1991 and has served as Bartlesville city manager since 2006. He served previously as Wastewater Department supervisor (1991-2000) and Public Works director (2000-2006).

“It has been my privilege to serve the citizens and the City Council and to work with the employees of the best city in the state of Oklahoma,” Gordon said. “As a boy who grew up in Bartlesville and graduated from College High School with the best class ever, the class of 1966 — Go Willie! — I daily have to pinch myself to believe I really have had the treasure of being a part of this community.”

Gordon faced a life-threatening medical crisis last fall but returned to work on a limited basis in February. Administrative Services Director/CFO Mike Bailey began serving as acting city manager in October 2017, following Gordon’s illness. Bailey will continue serving as acting city manager in the months prior to Gordon’s retirement.
