CPTS recognized for public transit program grants management

Cimarron Public Transit Service has earned the “Excellence in Grant Management” award from the Federal Transit Administration for CPTS’s operation of public transit systems in five Oklahoma counties, including the City of Bartlesville’s CityRide program.

“Cimarron Transit operates every facet of CityRide, from management of the grants, donations and other avenues of funding that support the program, to scheduling and providing rides to local citizens who depend on CityRide for in-city transportation,” said Community Development Director Lisa Beeman. “Cimarron Transit does an excellent job and is well-deserving of this award.”

Daniel Peschell, FTA transportation program specialist, credits CPTS Director Laura Corff for much of the program’s success.

“Under her leadership, CPTS has had minimal findings or issues with their FTA-funded programs and strives to remain in compliance in every way,” Peschell said. “Laura has taken a leadership role in a joint partnership with other transit agencies and community stakeholders to coordinate the Rides to Wellness grant application process with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for both Fiscal Year 2016 and the anticipated FY-2017 grant application. Her passion for the transit industry is undeniable and evident at CPTS.”

Cimarron Public Transit Service is a program of the United Community Action Program, and is under contract with the City of Bartlesville. CityRide is funded through a combination of federal and state grant programs, contracts, City tax dollars, private donations and fare revenues.

“We are appreciative of this award, which is made possible by our patrons and the dedicated transit staff who believe in providing mobility options to their clients, friends and neighbors,” said Corff.
