Free disposal site ready for tree debris; curbside pick-up starts June 18

The City of Bartlesville has established a free site for Bartlesville residents to dispose of tree debris caused by Tuesday storms. The site is located on West Highway 60 just east of the Green Country Rodeo Arena.

Public Works Director Keith Henry said permitting required by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality was approved Thursday morning.

“We have the permitting in place and the site ready, so people can start dumping their debris today,” he said.

Dumping hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The site will be closed on Sunday and will close permanently on June 23. No dumping will be permitted after that time.

“It is important that everybody understands that our permitting from ODEQ requires that nothing other than tree debris be dumped at the site,” Henry said. “Anything other than tree debris — including trash, fences and lumber — is strictly prohibited.”

The site is for residential customers only. No commercial dumping will be permitted.

“The site is only for customers who have been affected by the storm,” Henry said. “Other types of dumping will not be permitted.”

For customers who are unable to take their debris to the disposal site, beginning Monday, June 18, city crews will begin curbside pick-up in storm-affected areas only, Henry said.

“We will be going through the storm damaged areas collecting tree debris the week of June 18,” he said. “This applies only to neighborhoods that received damage from the storm Tuesday. Everyone will need to have their debris at their curb and ready for pick-up before 6 a.m. on June 18.”

Debris marked for pick-up must be stacked and cut into lengths no more than six feet and placed at the curb. The debris does not have to be bundled, Henry said.
