Roman’s Kubota headed for former American Legion building

July 11, 2018

Just wondering about two buildings that appear to be undergoing renovation. One is the old American Legion building on north Washington Boulevard, and the other the old vet clinic building across from Aldi on south U.S. Highway 75.

The former Companion Animal Clinic is being renovated to make way for another, similar-type business. The old American Legion building, located at 501 N.E. Washington Blvd., will be the new home of Roman’s Kubota, which currently located at 1000 N.E. Washington Blvd.

Speed limit signage missed on Adams

Are the speed limit signs that were taken down to build the entrance to Silver Lake shopping center going to be replaced? That’s where the speed limit changed from 45 to 50 going west and 50 to 45 going east. My car’s GPS still shows the speed limit change when I go through there. Without the signs it appears the speed limit is 45 when going west but 50 when going east past Lowe’s and the shopping center.

Adams Boulevard is also known as State Highway 60, which is owned and maintained by the State of Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is responsible for funding and scheduling repairs to the highway, including highway signage. As a result of this inquiry, City of Bartlesville staff have notified ODOT of the missing signage.

DQ rumors still not confirmed

I’ve heard rumors that Dairy Queen was coming in to Bartlesville. Is that accurate?

Previous City Beat reports on this remain the same: There are no permit applications on file with the City on behalf of Dairy Queen. The Bartlesville Development Authority reports they are also not aware of plans by DQ to locate in Bartlesville. Previous rumors indicated the restaurant might be coming to Eastland Shopping Center; however, Eastland owners told City Beat last month that they also are not aware of any such plans.

Nothing new to announce on Kmart, Hobby Lobby, Locke’s

Are there any plans for the empty Kmart building? And the Hobby Lobby building? And Locke’s old building?

According to the Bartlesville Development Authority, the owners of Kmart continue to work to occupy the building but say there are no plans to share as of this publication. There is also no indication of plans to occupy the former Hobby Lobby and Locke Supply buildings.

State Highway 123 owned, maintained by ODOT

Highway 123 in the Bartlesville City Limits. Why is it so rough? Why doesn’t anyone ever fix that road? Are there any plans to repair 123?

State Highway 123 is owned and maintained by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, not the City of Bartlesville. Repairs on State-owned roads are funded and scheduled through ODOT.
