Shellie McGill named interim transitional library director

August 26, 2015

City of Bartlesville Human Resources Director Shellie McGill has been named interim transitional director of the Bartlesville Public Library, Bartlesville Area History Museum and the city-owned White Rose Cemetery, city officials announced this week.

McGill has been tapped to take over direction of the departments following the retirement of former library, museum and cemetery director Joan Singleton.

McGill began her career with the City of Bartlesville in 1989, serving as account clerk and engineering secretary. She was later promoted to the position of PC Applications specialist with the IT Department, and served as the Utility Billing supervisor for three years. She moved to the Human Resources Department in 2003, and was named director of the department in 2008.

McGill will continue in her role as Human Resources director for the City of Bartlesville during the transition, according to City Manager Ed Gordon. Gordon said he hopes to name a permanent director by the end of the year.

“Shellie, as a Human Resources director, has a good working knowledge of the library and will have the excellent staff of the three departments to work with and lean on as she works toward hiring a new director,” Gordon said.
