Silver, Anders recognized for helping man

April 2, 2018

Neighborhood Services Supervisor Larry Silver and Code Enforcement Officer Holly Anders were recognized recently by the City of Bartlesville Employee Advisory Committee for their role in helping a local man earlier this year.

While following up on a case involving exterior maintenance issues, trash and other violations in December of last year, Anders discovered that an elderly man had been residing at the residence with rodent and bug infestation and without adequate heat. Anders reported the situation to Silver, and the two contacted the Department of Human Services’ Adult Protective Services, who intervened in the case. Following an APS investigation, the man was removed from the home and taken for medial care.

“Most people do not realize that the work that is done day in and day out by the code enforcement officers is so much more than telling people to mow their grass,” said Community

Development Director Lisa Beeman. “Cases like this one are becoming more common every year, and because of the empathy, kindness and compassion of our code enforcement officers, lives are saved and improved. What these officers do makes a difference in this community and in the lives of the people who live here.”

Silver and Anders will receive eight hours of special vacation, two free movie tickets and a $25 gift card to Hideaway Pizza for their efforts.
