Site open for storm debris; curbside pick-up underway

June 19, 2018

A free dumping site for storm debris caused by June 12 storms remains open this week and curbside pick-up is underway, Public Works Director Keith Henry said Tuesday.

Residents who were impacted by the storms last week may dispose of tree debris at the City’s free dump site, which located on West Highway 60 just east of the Green Country Rodeo Arena.

Dumping hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The site will close permanently on Saturday, June 23. No dumping will be permitted after that time. The site is for residential customers only. No commercial dumping is permitted.

For customers who are unable to take their debris to the disposal site, city crews began curbside pick-up on Monday.

“We have started the curbside collection, but it might take us a week or two to work our way through the storm-affected areas,” Henry said.

Residents were asked to have their storm debris at their curb for collection no later than 6 a.m. on June 18. City crews will make one trip through the areas to pick up debris, which must be cut into lengths no longer than six feet.

“We started in the most heavily impacted areas, primarily the southwest portion of town and Colonial Estates, and we’ll move to more isolated areas as we can,” Henry said.
