US 75 traffic signals not coordinated

All lanes are open on U.S. Highway 75 between Adams Road and the Eastland Shopping Center as the Oklahoma Department of Transportation makes significant progress on a months-long project at the Turkey Creek Bridge. But traffic control signals in the area have not yet been coordinated, City Manager Ed Gordon told the City Council on Monday.

“The signals, from the Walmart entrance on Highway 74 north to Frank Phillips Boulevard, are not in sync. So if you come upon one of those lights and think, ‘Something isn’t right here,’ it’s because the coordination of the lights is not there,” Gordon said.

He said the lack of coordination was an oversight by ODOT, which began a rehabilitation of the Turkey Creek Bridge last spring. Motorists have been navigating lane closures in the area since the project began. Lanes were opened on the highway just recently. ODOT officials say work continues under the bridge, but the portion of the project affecting traffic is complete.
