Work continues on Tuxedo Boulevard waterline project

Work continues on the Tuxedo Boulevard waterline project with the bulk of the work currently in the area of DeBell Avenue. Water Department crews are replacing the existing waterline west of Washington Boulevard, from about Cholwell to Pine Street.

Lane closures are expected throughout the months-long project.

“The project will likely take at least three to four months to complete,” Water Utilities Director Terry Lauritsen said this week.

The outside, westbound lane is currently closed to facilitate the project, and more lane closures are anticipated once the project advances.

Lauritsen said the line has experienced several leaks over the past six months and needed to be replaced. He said the work is set to be complete prior to the beginning of the Tuxedo Boulevard resurfacing project.

“We have a resurfacing project planned for Tuxedo so it made sense to get the waterline laid before that project starts,” Lauritsen said.
