Work on Johnstone concrete project delayed

Work on the Johnstone Avenue Concrete Rehabilitation Project that was set to begin last week has been delayed until Aug. 13., Director of Engineering Micah Siemers said Monday.

The project consists of pavement rehabilitation on Johnstone Avenue between 14th Street and 17th Street as well as area curb replacement and construction of two sidewalk ramps.

Siemers told the City Council on Monday that KSL Dirt Works, the contractor on the project, is also working on the Tuxedo Boulevard asphalt project and pouring cement at the new Casey’s store on Nowata Road, causing a delay on the Johnstone project.

“They just couldn’t get the staff on it that they would like,” Siemers said.

Lane closures should be expected for through traffic at various times throughout the duration of the project. Detours will be established as needed. The project is expected to be complete in late September.
