Who is responsible for the upkeep of sidewalks in downtown residential areas? Is it the homeowner or the City? Are all houses required to have a sidewalk?
Per Assistant Community Development Director Greg Collins: “It is the property owner’s responsibility to maintain and repair sidewalk. New home construction and significant remodels of existing homes trigger a requirement that the property owner install new sidewalk if it is not already in place, or repair existing sidewalk if there is existing sidewalk and it is in need of repair.”
What happened to that?
What became of the Veterans’ Medical Facility that was to be built in the calling center building on Frank Phillips Boulevard? We were told earlier that construction (remodeling) would begin last January?
According to the Community Development Department, the Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic, located at 3005 S.E. Frank Phillips Blvd., remodel project is currently underway. The City has not been given a targeted completion date yet, but the $2.8 million project is expected to take a while as it involves an extensive renovation.

The Community Development Department has not been given a targeted completion date for the new McAlister’s Deli location, but inspectors say construction is wrapping up and it shouldn’t be long.
