Police Chief Andrew Ward was officially sworn in as Chief of Police by Deputy Chief Troy Newell during a pinning ceremony held Tuesday at Tri County Tech.
Ward was tapped to lead the department following the retirement of Chief Kevin Ickleberry earlier this month.
“Chief Ward has invested in this profession, in this department, and in this community,” said Assistant City Manager Laura Sanders. “He has earned the respect of his fellow officers, the confidence of City leadership, and the trust of the public he serves. Leadership in law enforcement is not just about rank. It is about integrity, accountability, compassion, and the willingness to serve others before yourself.
