City of Bartlesville crews recently completed an asphalt replacement on Penn Avenue just north of 16th Street after a water leak in the area a few months ago caused the roadway to “heave.”
Workers from several departments had a hand in the project, which started Oct. 18 and was finished the next day.
About 60 tons of asphalt was used to replace a portion of the road. The cost of the project was approximately $5,000 for materials.

Asphalt is quickly spread across the roadway once the paving machine has cleared the area. Asphalt sets up relatively quickly, accommodating light traffic — cars and trucks — in about an hour.
