A $2 million taxilane project wrapped up in early May at the Bartlesville Municipal Airport.

“We have a few punch-list items to address, but the new taxiway is completed,” said Airport Director Mike Richardson.

The project included construction of a 50-foot wide 650-foot east/west taxiway and a 35-foot wide 650-foot north/south taxiway. The new taxiways extend east of the airport’s main taxiway “A” and are located northeast of the terminal building.

“The new taxiways will improve aircraft access and facilitate additional new hangar development,” Richardson said.

Funds for the $2 million project came from a $1.18 million grant from the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics, a $737,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration, and $101,306 from the City’s Airport Fund.

City staff are working with the FAA, ODAA and Bartlesville Development Authority for development of a nearly 20,000-square-foot hangar that will attach to the new taxilane. The hangar project is currently in the design phase and looking to go out for bid in June or July. The new hangar build will target the MRO (Maintenance Repair Overhaul) industry, according to Richardson.

“We owe the ODAA Commission, and especially Executive Director Grayson Ardies, as well as the Bartlesville Development Authority and our legislators and representatives a tremendous thank you for their continued support making projects like this possible,” Richardson said.
