The City will begin accepting applications for the 2025 City Citizens Academy on July 1.
The academy, which debuted last year, is an opportunity for Bartlesville residents to learn more about City operations, services, departments and programs.
“The Citizens Academy is a way we can provide the public an in-depth look at where their tax dollars actually go,” said Assistant City Manager Laura Sanders. “The academy is focused on educating residents, business owners and interested persons of Bartlesville on how daily city government operations contribute to building a better community.”
The program is offered at no cost and will take place biweekly on Thursday afternoons, beginning Sept. 4 and running through Nov. 13. The course culminates with a graduation ceremony during the Dec. 1 City Council meeting.
“The Citizens Academy includes site visits to major City facilities, presentations from department leaders, interaction with elected officials and much more,” said Sanders. “It is a truly unique opportunity to learn how city government operates, which is vital knowledge that benefits our entire community.”
Applications are available to those 18 and up who meet one or more of the following:
- Resident of Bartlesville
- Own a business in Bartlesville
- Employed full-time in Bartlesville
Applications will open July 1 and will be accepted through July 31. Details and an online application will be available at www.cityofbartlesville.org on July 1. The academy is capped at 20 participants.
