BAHM kicks off book club with ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’

May 12, 2021

Bartlesville Area History Museum this week announced the formation of the Hometown History Book Club. With a nod to local and state history, the club will take on “Killers of the Flower Moon” as its first project. The book follows the true story of the Osage Reign of Terror, during which wealthy members of the Osage tribe were systemically murdered for their head rights. The newly established FBI set to work on the case to uncover a dark conspiracy. This book is the source material for the Martin Scorsese film of the same name being filmed in nearby Pawhuska.

Club members will read the book through June and July, meeting Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. at the City Center Pavilion, weather permitting. The pavilion is located at the entrance of Johnstone Park at Cherokee Avenue and Hensley Boulevard. There will be four meetings to discuss the chronicles contained in the book.

June 15 – Chronicle One: The Marked Woman

June 29 – Chronicle Two: The Evidence Man

July 13 – Chronicle Three: The Reporter

July 27 – Wrap Up Event
