Mayor Dale Copeland, center left, and City Director of Engineering Micah Siemers, center right, joined representatives from internet provider Bluepeak and contract company Mears Construction during a groundbreaking ceremony held near Camelot and Braddock earlier today. The City Council approved a franchise agreement with Bluepeak last year that permits the company to install infrastructure to offer fiberoptic cable and internet services in Bartlesville in exchange for five percent of the company’s total revenue. According to Vice President of Market Development Desi Stoops, Bluepeak will provide one, two and five gig offerings for residential customers and will have commercial offerings as well. Stoops said half the city will be eligible for service within the first two years of the build-out, with 90 percent being eligible in three years. Bluepeak currently operates in South Dakota and Minnesota and is expanding its services to several Oklahoma communities in addition to Bartlesville, including Stillwater, Enid and Perry.
