Bluepeak, the fiber optic company installing infrastructure in Bartlesville in order to offer high-speed Internet service to residents, will resume construction this week, representatives for the company told City staff recently.
Construction was put on hold toward the end of last year due to the holidays and problems with limestone, but Bluepeak says contract crews will resume the fiber installation this week.
“Construction activities are expected to begin again this week in the zone they call DA 21, which is generally the area southeast of Washington Boulevard and Nowata Road, in the Rolling Hills neighborhoods,” said City Engineering Director Micah Siemers. “The work in this section is anticipated to take a couple of months to complete.”
City Beat readers may recall several complaints from residents due to the ongoing installation work, resulting in a large volume of calls to City staff — who were largely unable to help.
“As before, citizens are encouraged to reach out to Bluepeak via their call center if they have any questions or concerns,” Siemers said. “City staff have been assured that calls will be answered by a person, not a machine or recording, and that the call center has not been contracted out to a foreign country. All questions and complaints are logged into their system and their goal is to have someone on the construction team making contact within 24 hours to make sure they are addressing any issues that may arise.
“While City of Bartlesville Engineering Department personnel are involved with monitoring the work, this is not a City of Bartlesville project. Citizens are asked to try to resolve any issues with Bluepeak before calling the City with complaints or questions. That said, City staff are always willing to discuss and will help as much as possible.”
