Apollo & TroyBartlesville Police Department K-9s Apollo and Diesel will be on hand for the star-studded event, “BPD K-9 Night” — an event planned to raise money for the police department’s K-9 program.

BPD K-9 Night will be held from 6-10 p.m. June 16 at Sooner Miniature Golf, 146 S. Madison Blvd., on the northeast corner of Sooner Park.

Money raised during the event will be used to help purchase and train two new K-9s for the department. The new dogs are needed due to the pending retirement of current K-9s

Apollo and Diesel. K-9 handlers Troy Newell and Andrew Ward will attend the event as well.

“The Police Department is very grateful to the Kiwanis for putting this evening together,” said BPD Capt. Rocky Bevard. “The police K-9s are a very important part of our department and the War on Drugs in our community. It’s also going to be a fun event. Apollo and Diesel will be there — unless they are called away for work. We hope to see many citizens there, playing miniature golf.”

Participants can expect unlimited play for one round of pay — in other words, pay for one round of golf and play for the night.

“We are very appreciative to the community for their support of the Police K-9 Program. We are excited for the opportunity to see a lot of people at this event and answer any questions they might have” said Ward.
