The Bartlesville Redevelopment Trust Authority Board of Trustees voted recently to approve $160,000 in funding to expand the voter-approved City of Bartlesville project to install wayfinding and gateway signs throughout Bartlesville.
The project, recommended in the 2013 Community Strategic Plan and approved by voters in the 2018 General Obligation Bond Election, involves the construction of gateway signage into the city at major entryways and wayfinding signage for parks and recreational facilities as well as the downtown redevelopment district and downtown entryways.
During its regular meeting on Sept. 22, the Board voted unanimously to support the project, according to BRTA President Chris Wilson.
“The supplement of funds will help the City pay for additional wayfinding signs that were not in the original budget,” he said. “BRTA is proud to support the citywide wayfinding sign project that will help residents and visitors find Bartlesville’s great amenities and attractions.
The project got underway in February when the council awarded a contract for the project to ACSM Inc. for the design, fabrication and installation of the signage. Since that time, the Park Board and City staff have worked with ACSM staff to develop a signage design concept for the project.
Community Development Director Lisa Beeman says the project is moving along and that installation is expected to begin soon.
“The project is going well. ACSM has constructed the Pathfinder Parkway signs and is working on the construction of the park entryway signs,” she said. “I hope to see these signs installed by the end of the year with the other signs being installed by the spring of next year.”
Future phases of the project could include additional wayfinding signs for multiple routes and trail blazer signs along Pathfinder Parkway, as well as additional park entryway signs for other parks, she said.
