Bartlesville Police Department Capt. Kevin Ickleberry was recognized recently for his achievement in completing a rigorous 12-week advanced police training course with the Southern Police Institute in Louisville, Ky.
Ickleberry attended the in-residence Administrative Officers Course, a leadership development program that draws participants from around the U.S. and beyond.
“The AOC is one of the three top police executive educational programs in the United States,” said Police Chief Tracy Roles. “The course challenges police leaders to think critically about matters from a research-driven perspective.”
The course focuses on preparedness in several areas of law enforcement management training including dealing effectively with administrative issues, current law enforcement operational philosophy and practice, contemporary legal responsibilities of law enforcement administrators, methods of problem identification, evaluation and solution, and evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of law enforcement operations.
Roles said Ickleberry, who has served nearly 27 years with the department, was a perfect candidate for the training.
“I am extremely proud of Capt. Ickleberry for his willingness to attend the rigorous Administrative Officers Course at the Southern Police Institute,” Roles said. “Devoting three months of his time to be away from his family and the department so that he can gain knowledge that will make him a better, more well-rounded leader, speaks volumes about Kevin’s commitment to the BPD and the citizens of Bartlesville.”
