Cimarron Transit offers reduced public transportation fare

Oct 29, 2015

Cimarron Public Transit System is offering reduced fares next week for Bartlesville public transportation users as the organization celebrates 16 years of operation.

One-way trips within the city limits will be $2 during the week of November 2-6, reduced from the regular $3 cost.

“We hope to assist low income individuals and families by offering the reduced rates at the first of the month, when they need to pay bills and complete grocery shopping,” said Laura Corff, transit director.

In an effort to help as many people as possible, the offer could be expanded, Corff said.

“Should this celebratory project prove successful, the program will look at repeating this offer at the first of the month throughout 2016,” she said.

Riders should schedule in advance, as trips are accepted on a first call basis, subject to availability, Corff said.

Cimarron Transit, the City of Bartlesville’s public transportation service, provides curb to curb service on a demand response basis to all members of the public. The dispatcher is available between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Operators are available to provide transit service from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Limited Saturday service is also available. The service is closed on holidays.

Passengers with a disability can make a request verbally by communicating with the dispatcher or in writing. Whenever possible, discuss requests, as well as mobility devices, service dogs and escorts, with the dispatcher at the time the trip is scheduled. Passengers in need of a personal care assistant may travel with the assistant and no additional cost.

Children under age 5 ride free when accompanied by an adult.
