The City of Bartlesville was among several local organizations that were recognized during the 28th annual Oklahoma Statewide Preservation Conference held in Enid last week.
The City earned the prestigious “Citation of Merit” award for its role in planning the 27th annual Oklahoma Statewide Preservation Conference, which was held in Bartlesville last year. Other local organizations recognized for planning the event were the Bartlesville Area History Museum, Bartlesville Regional Chamber of Commerce, Bartlesville Convention & Visitors Bureau, Bartlesville Redevelopment Trust Authority, Price Tower Arts Center, Washington County Historical Society and Main Street Bartlesville.
The Citation of Merit is awarded annually to individuals, organizations, agencies and firms “that have made important contributions in the preservation of Oklahoma’s rich heritage,” according to the Oklahoma Historical Society’s State Historic Preservation Office.
“This special recognition is given for their many contributions, hard work and hospitality that made the event such a success,” said Melvena Heisch, deputy State Historic Preservation officer.
City of Bartlesville employees who worked on the project include Grants Administrator Nancy Warring, Cemetery Relations Coordinator Kim Inman, Bartlesville Area History Museum Collections Manager Debbie Neece and then-Bartlesville Public Library Director Joan Singleton.
