City Hall to close January 9 for employee event

Jan 3, 2024

With the exception of police and fire services, City offices will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 9 so that City staff can attend a “State of the City” event for employees.

The inaugural event is planned to help keep City staff informed about the organization, encourage collaboration between City departments and to recognize employees for outstanding service.

“This will be the first event of this kind held exclusively for City employees,” said City Manager Mike Bailey. “It will allow us to communicate in real time about the accomplishments of our employees and the City as an organization.”

Closing City facilities, with the exception of police and fire, will allow as many City staff as possible to attend the event, Bailey said.

“It’s important that we make every effort to accommodate as many of our staff as possible,” he said. “Unfortunately, there is no way to do that without some temporary facility closures. We appreciate everyone being patient with us as we spend a few hours investing in our employees and honoring the services they provide every day.”

Facilities/offices will be open that day as normally scheduled until 9:30 a.m. and will reopen at 1:30 p.m.
