City sales tax revenues up nearly 5 percent

Dec 10, 2019

Sales tax receipts for the City of Bartlesville last month were up nearly 5 percent compared to the same time last year, CFO/City Clerk Jason Muninger told Bartlesville radio listeners during the City Manager’s Show on Monday.

Muninger said the City typically sees the largest increase in December due to holiday spending — but citizens “must be getting an early jump on shopping” this year.

“It was a good month,” Muninger said.

Sales tax receipts for the period show an increase of 4.92 percent, while revenues are up 2.57 percent for the fiscal year, which ends June 30.

City of Bartlesville operations are funded utilizing sales tax revenues, which generates approximately $18 million per year, Muninger said.

“It’s the life-blood of City operations and the services we provide to the community,” he said.

“We have the citizens to thank for this increase by shopping local,” said City Manager Mike Bailey. “It really does make a difference.”
