City of Bartlesville transit system CityRide will begin offering expanded hours of service beginning June 2 with the roll-out of the the long-awaited PICK project, Cimarron Public Transit System Transit Director Laura Corff said this week.
Under the umbrella of United Community Action Program, CPTS operates the City’s low-cost transit system in addition to several other systems across the state.
The PICK project, which includes 21 Oklahoma communities including Bartlesville, is a mobility on demand service that utilizes the Uber app to make scheduling and paying for rides easier and more efficient for CityRide users. The app will also identify the vehicle and the driver as well as provide an estimated time of arrival.
PICK will enable CityRide to offer local transportation service 5-10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays at a cost of $3 per one-way trip, Corff said. This is in addition to existing CityRide hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with limited Saturday service.
“Evening and weekend service is something Bartlesville citizens have for the past several years told
us they’ve needed, so we’re excited to be able to launch this program and help meet some of those needs,” Corff said. “This is in addition to regular CityRide service, which will continue as it always has. PICK simply allows us to offer expanded services that might better serve CityRide users or those who are not currently using the City’s transit system.”
PICK is made possible through a $1.5 million Innovated Mobility Initiative Grant through the U.S. Department of Transportation. The goal of the project is to include inclusive, affordable, and spontaneous access to public transportation providers in Oklahoma and across the country.
