May 14, 2024

Personnel from several City departments joined forces after the tornado to help clear roads and other public access properties of tree debris.

Crews from the entire Public Works Department, which includes Streets, Sanitation and Parks, have been joined by Water and Wastewater department employees to help clear roads and reopen athletic fields, repair traffic control signals, man the debris drop-off site and implement a curbside collection for debris.

“I’m very proud of our guys and everyone who has chipped in to help,” said Henry. “We’re also grateful to Washington County Commissioners Mike Dunlap and Mitch Antle for providing road crews, and to Washington County Emergency Management Director Kary Cox and his team for all the work they’ve done.”

City staff repair a traffic control signal at Frank Phillips Boulevard and Eastland Parkway.

Crews remove a large tree from the road.

Tree debris in Robinwood Park is readied for the wood chipper.

A gradall is used to remove damaged trees at Price Road and Hillcrest Drive.
