The City’s overall water supply levels remain at 69 percent, keeping the area in Stage 2 of the Drought Continency Plan, Water Utilities Director Terry Lauritsen said late Tuesday.
“We’re still at 69 percent overall,” he said. “Last week, our average water use was 6.07 million gallons of water per day (mdg), but that was due to line breaks and service line breaks because of the cold weather around Christmas. This week, we’re back down to below 4.5 mgd.”
Stage 2 of the plan calls for increased public awareness in water conservation.
“In our drought contingency plan, most of the water restrictions at the 60-70 percent level are geared around limiting outside watering, filling swimming pools and other non-essential water use,” Lauritsen said.
“However, because it is wintertime and this is basically in effect already, we are focusing on public education and outreach to let people know where we are and ask that they conserve water the best they can.”
