Fire department to hold special 9/11 ceremony

The Bartlesville Fire Department will hold a special ceremony at 9 a.m. on Sept. 11 to honor those who were injured or lost their lives during a terrorist attack on U.S. soil on Sept. 11, 2001.

Nineteen members of Al Qaeda hijacked four U.S. commercial airplanes and crashed them into the north and south towers of the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and a field in Shanksville, Pa. A total of 2,977 people were killed, including 343 firefighters, 23 New York City police officers and 37 officers at the Port Authority.

The brief ceremony will be held in front of Central Fire Station, 601 S. Johnstone Ave. Everyone is invited to attend.
