With the exception of disinfectant/wet wipes, Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) are the largest contributors to the city’s non-rain-related sewer backups and overflows.
In March 2023, the Bartlesville City Council approved amendments to the Sewer Use Pretreatment Standards, incorporating FOG provisions. The approved ordinance, Ordinance No. 3568 Amending Chapter 20, Section 20-156 through 20-162, may be viewed on the City of Bartlesville website, www.cityofbartlesville.org. All commercial food entities in Bartlesville have received notice of the changes and must comply with the amended ordinance.
