More lane closures planned for water line project

Apr 20, 2021

Contract crews continue work on a water line project in the area of Frank Phillips Boulevard and U.S. Highway 75. The right turn lane on Frank Phillips for southbound US-75 traffic is closed and more lane closures are likely, pending weather conditions, in the next week or so as crews begin crossing Frank Phillips to the north.

The project is a maintenance-related project, Water Utilities Director Terry Lauritsen said recently.

“This is the main water feed for the hospital and a secondary feed for the Hot, Warm and Cold tanks on Adams Boulevard,” Lauritsen said. “We’ve experienced many leaks on these water lines over the years and they were due to be replaced.”

Lauritsen said the first leg of the project, replacement of lines from Comanche Street to Silver Lake Road, was completed in 2014.

“Completion of this portion of the project will finish it up,” he said.
