Lee Lake Skate Park lighting set for fall

Aug 16, 2022

Lee Lake Skate Park needs lights. I saw a post a while back saying we would be getting lights late spring, early summer. It’s almost fall and still no lights.

City staff had planned to bid the Lee Lake Skate Park lighting project earlier this year but were forced to switch gears when General Obligation Bond funding for the project did not become available until July.

Engineering staff hopes to bid the lighting project in mid to late September, so construction will most likely start later this fall.

Keep in mind that while this is the plan, the skate park lighting will be a “bid alternate” to the Robinwood Soccer Field Lighting Project, which means the skate park lighting will only be funded if there is enough money leftover from the Robinwood project. If the cost of the Robinwood project is higher than anticipated, which is possible due to inflation and higher-than-usual supply costs, the skate park lighting project will be postponed until alternate funding can be identified.

Strategic plan update

What is happening with the strategic plan? We haven’t heard anything lately.

The City of Bartlesville Strategic Plan, which focuses on financial excellence, economic growth, infrastructure and community partnership, outlines the City’s vision, mission and values and identifies strategic priorities and key objectives that will guide City operations over the next three to five years. City staff began working on the project with consultant The Mejorando Group in March, and the council officially adopted the plan in July.

Now that the summer months are winding down and scheduling is less conflicted, City management staff and members of the task force assigned to work on the plan are set to meet later this month to begin outlining the “goals” portion of the plan. The goals will include specific steps the City will take to achieve the key objectives identified in the plan.

Once this is complete and approved by the City Council, implementation will begin. We will report each of these steps, of course, in City Beat and on the City’s social media. We even have a surprise planned (spoiler alert: It’s a video) showing the process and bringing everyone up to date on where we are so far, so stay tuned.
