The 14th annual Luminary Service at White Rose Cemetery will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 19 in the mausoleum chapel.
The service is offered each year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving in an effort to help those who have lost loved ones better survive the holiday season, said Cemetery Relations Coordinator Kim Inman.
“The holidays are hard for people who have lost someone,” Inman said. “The Luminary Service is a way of honoring and remembering those loved ones and helping people cope with their loss.”
The event includes a guest speaker and a reading of the names of those being remembered. The service is open to the community and loved ones do not have to be buried at White Rose to have a luminary in their memory, Inman said. Also, attendance is not required.
Luminaries are $5 each and may be purchased at the Bartlesville Public Library, 600 S. Johnstone Ave., or by mailing checks payable to White Rose Cemetery to: White Rose Cemetery, 801 W. 11th Street, Bartlesville, OK 74003, along with the names of those being remembered and by whom they are being honored.
