Mike Burch named Fire Department battalion chief

February 18, 2020

Veteran Bartlesville firefighter Mike Burch was recently promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief, BFD Fire Chief John Banks said last week.

Promoted from his most recent assignment as captain, Burch is one of just three battalion chiefs with the department. He is assigned to the A Shift at Central Fire Station, located 601 S. Johnstone Ave. The position was recently vacated by Mike Remington, who retired from the department earlier this month.

Burch started his career with the City of Bartlesville as a firefighter in April 1987. In 2001, he was promoted to equipment operator and to captain in 2006. His recent appointment to battalion chief became effective Feb. 13.

Banks said Burch’s experience make him the perfect choice for the leadership position.

“Mike has been with the department 33 years and has served as captain for almost 14 years,” Banks said. “Mike is an experienced veteran firefighter with a positive attitude and a great working knowledge of the department’s operations. I have all the confidence that Mike was the right choice for this leadership position.”

Also promoted recently were Broderick Guise to captain and Jimmy Scully to equipment operator.
