One of five Strategic Priorities outlined in the City’s Bartlesville NEXT Strategic Plan is helping to instill and enhance “Community Character.”
The department charged with overseeing this portion of the plan is the Bartlesville Public Library, which has organized and will hold its first Multi-Cultural Focus Group meeting on Oct. 12, Library Director Shellie McGill said this week.
Community Character is a Strategic Priority outlined in the City’s organizational strategic plan, Bartlesville NEXT. Also included in the plan are Financial Strength and Operational Excellence, Economic Vitality, Effective Infrastructure Network, and Emerging Issues.
The Library Team has been tasked with exploring opportunities “to embrace the unique cultures of the community” through working with partnering agencies and leading initiatives that can help identify unmet cultural needs.
“Our focus on Community Character places importance on highlighting the diverse cultures of our community,” McGill said. “To that end, we have been working to coordinate a focus group to support and identify community cultural needs that are potentially not being met and to communicate those needs to City leadership. The goal would then be to allocate resources to help meet those needs.”
Anyone who would like to participate is welcome to attend the meeting, which will begin at 6 p.m. on Oct. 12 in Meeting Room C at the library, located at 600 S. Johnstone Ave.
