Project differs from 2025 PSM; no dust, issues expected
A preventative street project in the Prairie Ridge and Stone Branch subdivisions got underway this week following City Council approval of a contract for the work on July 6.
The Council approved a contract for Holbrook Asphalt to complete a street preservation project in the Prairie Ridge and Stone Branch subdivisions, as well as a large number of streets in the Stonewall Drive area between Washington Boulevard and Silver Lake Road.
The $1.1 million project is funded through the 2020 Half-cent Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Sales tax and will involve the application of High Density Mineral Bond (HA5) to the surface of the affected streets, as well as some full-depth asphalt patching, primarily in the Stonewall Drive area.
The project is not the same as a large-scale project that caused multiple issues for motorists last summer, Director of Engineering Micah Siemers said this week.
“The main issue with the project last summer was with the chip seal portion, and that will not be involved in this project,” Siemers said. “While chip seal was required for our more heavily-traveled streets, the current project involves streets that are far less heavily traveled, so the chip seal layer will not be an issue this time around.”

Siemers said crack sealing, which will start once the full depth asphalt patching is complete, will be included as well for all streets in the project scope.
“Holbrook crews began the full depth patching portion of the project on Monday and should be ready to begin crack sealing around the end of July and wrap up sometime in late August, followed by HA5 application through September,” he said.
Affected areas include:
- Stonewall Drive – between Silver Lake Road and U.S. Highway 75 including side streets adjacent to Stonewall Drive in the Park Place and Deerfield Subdivisions as well as the Stonebridge Subdivision.
- Nova Avenue – between Wayside and Price Road
- Hill Drive – between Silver Lake Road and Price Road
- Prairie Ridge subdivision
- Stone Branch subdivision
- Southwest Jennings Avenue between Adams Boulevard and 14th Street
With the exception of the HA5 application, one lane of traffic will remain open for through traffic during all portions of the project. Both lanes of traffic must be closed for the HA5 application, but accommodations will be made to allow residential access.
Holbrook Asphalt will leave flyers notifying residents of when work on their street will be completed so that vehicles can be removed from the streets on those days.
Schedules will also be available in City Beat, the City website, www.cityofbartlesville.org, City of Bartlesville GOV, and holbrookasphalt.com when lane closures begin, on Aug. 31.
The project is expected to conclude by Sept. 29.
