A temporary trail has been installed just west of a closed portion of Pathfinder Parkway north of the Tuxedo Bridge, Public Works Director Keith Henry said this week.
The path was closed earlier this month after erosion of the Caney Riverbank caused damage to the concrete trail, rendering it unsafe for use. The realigned path will remain open until work to stabilize the riverbank and rebuild the path begins.
The closed portion of the trail is just north of an area closed last year for the same reason. That portion of the trail was re-opened after concrete spoils from the ConocoPhillips/Phillips 66 Plaza project were used to stabilize the riverbank. City officials say they are hoping to secure a similar solution for the more recent damage.
Until then, the trail has been temporarily realigned to the west, on property owned by Bartlesville Redi-Mix. Bartlesville Redi-Mix management has agreed to allow the temporary realignment of the path until the riverbank can be stabilized and the path permanently secured. The affected area is about 400 feet north of the Tuxedo Bridge.
Closures will be necessary in the future as permanent repairs are made, Henry said.
