The City Planning Commission on Tuesday voted 6-0 to recommend approval of several items related to the proposed development of 115 acres on Adams Boulevard east of Silver Lake Road, known as Silver Lake Village. Plans for the development include several major retail establishments and, eventually, the construction of high-end apartments.
Following a public hearing during which several residents expressed concern about buffering between the residential neighborhood and the planned commercial development, the planning commission voted in favor of a request to rezone the property from agricultural/single-family residential to general commercial/multi-family residential.
The matter will now go before the City Council during a meeting set for April 4.
The development is a project brought forward by the Bartlesville Development Authority. Earlier this month the Tax Increment Finance Review Committee voted to recommend approval of creating a Tax Increment Finance district for the property, as well as surrounding property owned by the City of Bartlesville. A TIF district would capture property taxes generated by the development to help repay funds used to develop the project.
The planning commission voted Tuesday to recommend approval of the TIF district to the City Council, which will further consider the issue on April 4.
