The planned construction of the voter-approved Bartlesville Public Safety Complex is progressing on schedule, with bids on the project expected to go out this month.
One of the voter-approved projects in the 2012 General Obligations Bond election was to construct a public safety complex at the southwest corner of Sixth Street and Johnstone Avenue.
The project will consist of renovation and expansion of the existing Fire Station No. 1, 601 South Johnstone, and the construction of a new police administration facility toward the south end of the site, at Johnstone and Adams Boulevard.
G.O. Bond funds allocated to the project total $6 million, of which 985,000 is being utilized for architectural/engineering design and property acquisition.
The project will go out for bids this month and will be received on Nov. 16. The City Council is expected to consider a contract for construction at its Dec. 7 meeting, and construction is anticipated to begin in late January 2016. Construction is estimated to take approximately 12 months to complete.
