Q&A: Kmart building sold; Luigi’s to relocate

August 13, 2019

The Bartlesville Kmart store closed in 2017. Is new retail activity being planned for the vacant store?

According to Bartlesville Development Authority President David Wood, the former Kmart building has been purchased by Oklahoma City developer Jeremy Foraker.

“Their plan is to subdivide the large box into four separate storefronts with a full façade remodel,” Wood said.

He said the BDA has received a request for community information from one prospective tenant — an outlet store, primarily apparel — and it is believed a decision will be made this month.

“We also shared several brands that were potential tenants for Phase II at Silver Lake Village and the developer is reaching out to them as well,” Wood said. “In the meantime, ‘No Parking’ signs have been placed in the parking lot, so the unsightly truck parking should be eliminated.”

Luigi’s to relocate once current lease expires

A parcel of land just north of Stride Bank on Southeast Washington Boulevard has been sold. Will a new restaurant be opening on that property?

According to local Realtor Jim Sweezey of Jim Sweezey Realty Services, the parcel of land in question was sold approximately six weeks ago and is the intended home for a new Luigi’s restaurant. Luigi’s is currently located at 3822 S.E. Frank Phillips Blvd. and will continue in that location until their current lease agreement expires, in approximately one year, Sweezey said.
