Q&A: Bricktown Brewery construction set for spring

July 7, 2021

Are there any updates on Bricktown Brewery? Is there an update on Jimmy’s Egg? Are they still planning to come to Bartlesville?

Short answer: Bricktown Brewery is planning to begin construction on the Bartlesville location next spring while the future of Jimmy’s Egg in Bartlesville remains unknown.

The details: City Beat readers may recall the City Council voted in January 2020 to appropriate $151,470 in economic development funds — that is, revenue generated by the voter-approved 1/4-cent Economic Development Sales Tax — to incentivize the construction and opening of Bricktown Brewery and Jimmy’s Egg restaurants in the parking lot area of the former KMart facility, which is now home to several brand-name stores.

The incentive, which was contingent upon both restaurants occupying/opening in a shared building at that location, was modified in April 2021 to allow the restaurants to receive the incentives separately, as they are separate entities and represent differing points of revenue generation. Bartlesville Development Authority President David Wood told the council during the April 5, 2021 City Council meeting that Bricktown Brewery was ready to move forward with the Bartlesville restaurant while Jimmy’s Egg’s position, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was unknown.

The modification approved by the council during the meeting permits an incentive of $110,573 for Bricktown Brewery and $40,897 for Jimmy’s Egg, payable only upon each restaurant receiving a Certificate of Occupancy from the City. The amounts are based on percentages of anticipated sales for each restaurant — representing 73 percent for Bricktown Brewery and 27 percent for Jimmy’s Egg.

Regarding the actual construction of the building, Bricktown Brewery will proceed with construction to include a second business at the location, Wood said. With Jimmy’s Egg’s Bartlesville future uncertain, it is not yet known if it or another business will occupy the second space. The City’s incentive agreement, however, extends only to Jimmy’s Egg, so a different business at the location would not receive incentive funds based on the existing agreement.

When contacted last week, Wood said Bricktown Brewery is on-track to begin construction in March or April of 2022, and that the outcome of Jimmy’s Egg remains “to be determined” based on conditions at the time of the completion of the Bricktown Brewery facility.
