I am wondering why we would go to the expense of replacing the Johnstone Park sign that is only about five years old and is actually very similar to the Welcome to Bartlesville sign in the picture shown in City Beat (June 9). If you do replace it, what will you do with the digital board for the community? I enjoy seeing what is posted on it when we drive by. I do wish more events were listed on it, since it was meant to be a community information board.
It seems the article, “Gateway, wayfinding sign project advances,” published in the June 9 edition of City Beat left the impression that the electronic sign near the entrance to Johnstone Park, located at Hensley Boulevard and Cherokee Avenue, would be replaced with the installment of new park entryway signs, which are part of the voter-approved Gateway and Wayfinding Signs project. However, that is not the case. The digital sign will remain in its location and will not be impacted by the sign project.
The digital sign, which was purchased and donated by the Bartlesville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Bartlesville Class XXIV, is used to advertise City events and events associated with Johnstone Park. While Community Development Department staff does their best to keep an eye out for these events and place the information on the sign, the best way to ensure that your event is posted is to request it. To do this or for more information, email kdwalker@cityofbartlesville.org or call 918.338.4238.
What’s going on there?
This week I have noticed a lot of construction on the property by the McDonalds on Price Road. Is there any information you could provide as to what is being built there?
According to the Community Development Department, BancFirst is installing an ITM (Interactive Teller Machine) at that location.
I was wondering about the road work being done on Washington Boulevard in front of Chick-fil-A. I saw work trucks there a few weeks ago but not in the past two weeks, yet the one lane is still closed. Is there a target date for completion of whatever it is they are doing?
The project in question is an Oklahoma Department of Transportation project and includes the construction of a right turn lane on Washington Boulevard near Eastland Shopping Center. According to City of Bartlesville Director of Engineering Micah Siemers, ODOT ‘s official start date on the project was June 7 and there are 60 calendar days in the contract, so they should be looking to finish up the first week in August.
What’s going in there?
I know Luigi’s is moving to south Washington Boulevard. The question is what is the second building going to be?
Community Development Department staff has no information regarding use of the building adjacent to the new Luigi’s restaurant, located in the 1400 block of south Washington Boulevard.
How do you do that?
How does the City keep track of the new scooters in town or know how much battery time they have left?
The City doesn’t track the scooters or monitor their battery time. This is done by the companies that own the scooters, Lime Scooters and Bird Rides, via GPS tracking. The City Council voted to authorize agreements with both companies late last year and earlier this year that allows these companies to operate scooter programs within the city limits, but the only role the City of Bartlesville plays in the programs is to collect a fee of five cents per trip taken on the scooters and to allow users to park scooters on city sidewalks as long as they do not obstruct pedestrian traffic.
