Q&A: PSO installing LED lighting across city

Jul 26, 2022

PSO is replacing 1,000 lights in Sand Springs with new LED bulbs. Are they doing this in Bartlesville?

According to a press release issued by Public Service Company of Oklahoma recently, PSO is converting Bartlesville streetlights to LED lighting, a new technology that “will brighten roadways, street corners and public spaces for homeowners, drivers and law enforcement.” LED conversion of 2,310 streetlights began earlier this year. The new lighting will improve visibility for drivers and pedestrians, “providing greater appeal and safety while strengthening connections in the community,” PSO says. Light-emitting diode (LED) streetlights are more efficient and longer-lasting than the high intensity discharge (HID) lights they replace, according to the company.

If you have questions about the lights or the installation, or for more information, call PSO at 1.888.216.3523.

Do I need a permit for that?

I heard on the radio that I have to have a permit to put up a storage shed in my back yard. Is that true?

It is true. For storage sheds less than 200 square feet, a zoning permit is required. Larger structures require a building permit. Obtaining the proper permit ensures that certain requirements are met during the installation of the structure, such as five-foot set-backs from the property line and maintaining utility access to City easements and rights of way. For details on these and other building codes, see www.cityofbartlesville.org. For more information or to start your permit process, call 918.338.4243 or email newarring@cityofbartlesville.org.
