State order limits crowd size at public gatherings, sporting events

January 20, 2021

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt recently issued amended Executive Order 2020-20, which added new restrictions across the state relating to COVID-19 and extended the State of Emergency in effect since March 2020.

  • The amended order limits crowd sizes at indoor youth sporting events to four spectators per participant — or 50 percent of the building’s capacity, whichever is lower.
  • Public gatherings must also be limited to 50 percent of capacity. Gatherings include any public or social gathering “of persons not from the same household.” The order does not apply to churches, healthcare, schools, public safety and childcare services.

The order also extends requirements that restaurants and bars maintain six feet of space between tables but drops a previous requirement that they close by 11 p.m.

Most other requirements previously implemented remain in place, including a requirement that masks be worn at all State facilities.
