Thousands of Washington County residents have been without power since a summer storm ripped through the area Saturday evening.
According to Washington County Emergency Management, more than 20,000 people were without power at the height of yesterday’s storm, and roughly 10,000 were still powerless earlier today. Public Service Company of Oklahoma said fewer than 6,000 were without power by noon today, and that they expected power to be restored by midnight tonight.
City of Bartlesville and Washington County crews were out all night clearing roads of fallen trees and storm debris, and the City’s free disposal site was opened earlier today and will remain open at least through this week. Bartlesville Public Library opened to the public to provide a cool space and power to those in need, while some other City facilities were closed due to damage caused by the storm.

The City’s free disposal site for storm debris opened earlier this morning and will remain open at least through the week.
The site, which is on City-owned property located on West Highway 60 just east of the Green Country Rodeo Arena, 759 Bartlesville Road, will be open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. until further notice.
“We will continue to evaluate the need for potentially keeping the site open longer, but for now we plan to keep it open through Friday,” said Public Works Director Keith Henry.
The site is ONLY for tree debris, brush and vegetation damaged during recent storms. Please do not dispose of any other items.
Those who cannot get to the site can bundle limbs in 4-foot lengths (no more than 50 pounds) and use the City’s existing yard waste program by attaching green yard waste stickers to the bundles. Stickers are available for purchase at local Quik Trip locations and City Hall, 401 S. Johnstone Ave. Yard waste containing the stickers will be collected on your normal trash collection day. Closures
Boots Hollow Golf Club is closed today, July 5, and Monday, July 6. An assessment will determine if the course will need to remain closed further into the week. Follow City of Bartlesville GOV for updates.

Hideaway Pizza dropped off pizzas and other goodies, and water was provided by Washington County Emergency Management during Bartlesville Public Library’s stint as a cooling station. “We are so grateful to Hideaway and the Emergency Operations Center for these donations, as well as Community Development Director Larry Curtis, who donated fruit, veggies and a meat and cheese tray,” said Library Director Kiley Roberson. Roberson said more than 100 people had taken advantage of the cooling station by this afternoon. The library is open today until 8 p.m. for citizens experiencing power outages as a result of yesterday’s storms.
