City crews have patched a pothole on the Sunset Bridge, located on Sunset Boulevard over Butler Creek, as a project to replace the bridge deck entirely is expected to move forward very soon.
“We were notified of a pothole on the bridge and have patched the hole with a metal plate until a project already planned to replace the bridge can move forward, which we anticipate will be very soon,” Director of Engineering Micah Siemers said this week.
Approved by voters in the 2020 General Obligation Bond Election, the $1 million Butler Creek Bridge rehabilitation project includes a deck and approach replacement, pier protection, abutment repairs, and guardrail improvements.
The design portion of the project is complete, and City staff hopes to bring a construction contract for City Council consideration before work on the Tuxedo Bridge, which is currently underway, is complete.
