Tuxedo, Keeler water line projects to wrap up Monday, weather permitting

Jul 29, 2016

Keeler waterline 7-29-16The 600 block of Keeler Avenue and westbound lanes on Tuxedo Boulevard from Young Street west are expected to be re-opened Monday, weather permitting, Water Utilities Supervisor Red Miller said Friday.

All lanes of Keeler Avenue between Adams Boulevard and Sixth Street are closed to through traffic to accommodate work on the Public Safety Center currently under construction near Adams Boulevard and Johnstone Avenue. City crews are working on water lines in the area to provide water and fire service to the new complex.

City crews also began working this week to repair a water main break on Tuxedo Boulevard. Westbound lanes beginning at Young Street to the west will remain closed until asphalt work can be completed, Miller said. Two-way traffic will be permitted in the remaining two lanes.

Miller said the closures on Keeler and Tuxedo should be re-opened on Monday if weather conditions hold and the asphalt component of the projects can be completed.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes when possible.
