City, partners to provide house painting to residents in need

The City of Bartlesville Community Development Department, in partnership with local sponsors and organizations, is launching its inaugural “Brush-Up Bartlesville” community outreach program this month.

The program is designed to assist low-income residents by offering exterior home painting services.

Brush-Up Bartlesville is currently in need of volunteer teams, as well as local and corporate sponsors. Teams should consist of at least eight team members, including a team captain. Volunteers for painting must be at least 18 years old. Those younger than 18 wishing to participate will help with landscaping and other projects. Paint, brushes, rollers, chemicals and scrapers will be provided; however volunteers should plan to bring their own ladders. To volunteer, contact Ike Amaro at 918.214.6428 or email at iiamaro@cityofbartlesville.org.

Those who cannot volunteer their services but would still like to help can donate through the program’s “Buy-A-Bucket” initiative. Each donation provides supplies necessary for prep work and painting. Donations of $25 (one gallon), $75 (three gallons), or $150 (six gallons) can be mailed or submitted in person to the City of Bartlesville, 401 S. Johnstone Ave., Bartlesville, OK 74003. Checks should be made to the City of Bartlesville with “Brush-Up Bartlesville” in the memo line.

Local businesses and corporations are also encouraged to participate through volunteer teams and corporate sponsorships. In addition to advertising opportunities, businesses can write off their contribution as a tax deduction. Sponsorships are available in three tiers – Bronze ($250), Silver ($500), and Gold ($500). Corporate sponsors can contact Kelcey Nobles at 918.338.4238 or by email at ktnobles@cityofbartlesville.org for more information.

Applications for homeowners will begin May 1. Watch City Beat and the City of Bartlesville Facebook page for more information.
